Artist Talk Nicole Ondre & Vanessa Disler – Feminist Land Art Retreat

  • Diese Veranstaltung hat bereits stattgefunden.

Feminist Land Art Retreat (FLAR) is a collaborative project by Nicole Ondre and Vanessa Disler. FLAR was born in 2010 with a poster on the wall of Exercise Projects in Vancouver, depicting mirrored images of Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty. Transforming this seminal work of land art into something resembling fallopian tubes, it invited the viewer to a fantasy event. This began FLAR’s conceptual and humorous subversion of familiar visual forms, including fashion, spa advertising, commemorative architecture, and aerial imagery. FLAR has continued appropriating commercial and art-historical images with irony, challenging commonly held notions of how feminism is embodied and expressed.

FLAR’s solo exhibitions include Free Rein, Kamloops Art Gallery (2019) and Audain Gallery, Vancouver (2018). Heavy Flow: The Re-Release, Ginerva Gambino, Cologne (2017); Duty Free, Studio for Propositional Cinema, Düsseldorf (2015); and Last Resort, Kunsthaus Bregenz Billboards, Bregenz (2015). They have participated in group exhibitions at Nottingham Contemporary, UK; De La Warr Pavillion, UK; 500 Capp Street, San Francisco; Kestner Gesellschaft, Hannover; Kunstverein Düsseldorf, and JTT Gallery, New York City, among others. In 2018 they produced a series of aerial artworks and live radio broadcasts supported by the City of Vancouver and the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver.

FLAR will present a lecture slideshow of selected collaborative projects from the past 10 years, source images from their shared research and discuss their working methods.

Der Vortrag von FLAR ist Teil einer Vortragsreihe in den Seminaren für Künstlerische Praxis am Institut für Kunst und Kunsttheorie und findet in englischer Sprache statt.
