Das Worklab HOW TO DANK IMAGES schließt an das Worklab ‘Dank Images, Tiktok und Apokalypse. Bildhandeln im Internet’ an und extrapoliert die in 2021 identifizierten Diskurse und Leerstellen, die auf ein komplex(er)es Verständnis gegenwärtiger politischer, sozialer und medialer Kommunikation zielen. Ausgehend von der Annahme, dass neuartigen Bildphänomenen Raum gegeben werden muss, unternimmt das Worklab eine methodische Sondierung und Sammlung von Praktiken des Forschens. Denn gerade (Online-)Bilder kommunizieren über unzählige Formen des Alltäglichen und kommentieren politische und gesellschaftliche Ereignisse in Echtzeit. Insbesondere Krisenszenarien befeuern dabei die Bildproduktion und lassen z. B. Memes zu politischen Akteur*innen werden, die besondere Aufmerksamkeit in der Analyse und Diskussion erfahren, und angepasste Methoden erfordern.
Das Worklab findet online statt und nähert sich dem Forschungsthema experimentell über verschiedene offene Austauschformate, partizipative Explorationsräume, sowie Kurzinputs der Teilnehmenden.

Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos. Die Worklab-Sprachen sind Deutsch und Englisch.

HOW TO DANK IMAGES is a follow up event to the worklab ‚Dank Images, Tiktok and Apocalypse. Bildhandeln im Internet‘ and extrapolates the discourses and voids identified in 2021, aiming at a complex(er) understanding of contemporary political, social and media communication. Based on the assumption that space must be given to novel image phenomena, the worklab undertakes a methodological exploration and collection of research practices. After all, especially (online-)images communicate through countless forms of the everyday and comment on political and social events in real time. In particular, crisis scenarios fuel the production of networked imagery and turn memes and other digital artifacts into political actors that require special attention in analysis and discussion, as well as adapted methods.
The online worklab approaches the research topic experimentally through various open exchange formats, participatory exploration spaces, as well as short inputs from the participants.
